This horse needs to be held up and the kid had ridden a blinder when just beaten at Bath last time, but in a slowly run race he overdid the waiting tactics and, although Wood Fern flew through the final furlong, he had been set an impossible task.
In contrast, MILK AND SULTANA was settled in midfield and the Polytrack specialist quickened smartly to win with authority. It was the mare's first visit here, but she seemed to love the surface and will be back.
