AWAKEN likes to come from off the pace and things panned out nicely for her here, as she came with a wet sail to secure the spoils inside the final furlong.
Bella Fiorella, who was meeting the winner on slightly better terms than in a handicap, came to win her race, but was outpointed towards the finish.
The first two finished well clear of the remainder, headed by Monash Lad, a long-standing maiden, who flattered on the outside more than two furlongs out, only to deceive as he faded under pressure approaching the last.
Campbells Lad made much of the running, but was laid bare when the chips were down.
