This looked a weak race of its type but at least it produced a driving finish, with TRIPLE MINT relishingevery yard to record his first victory. He is lightly raced and open to improvement, and you would think will prove well suited by three miles. He should not be too harshly treated by the handicapper for this.
Major Catch, who had won a slightly weaker race than this at Sedgefield 12 days earlier, looked the likely winner turning in, but he ran out of gas over the last two flights. This was a fair effort, though, off joint top-weight.
Dillay Brook looked to have a serious form chance off bottom weight witha capable rider taking off 7lb, but she did not get home as well as the first three.
Stoop To Conquer's second-placed effort at Folkestone last month didn't look quite good enough, and that was borne out.
Ex-pointers switched to Henrietta Knight's are always worth a second look, but Return Fire was never in the hunt and pulled up.
