Flight Leader was not disgraced behind exciting bumper performer Kicks For Free on his debut and this represented a weaker race. Up there all the way, he was always well positioned in a race run at a steady early pace prior to the sprint for home.
Trigger The Light, who is by Double Trigger out of a half-sister to Hurricane Lamp, is bred to stay well. Slightly outpaced running out of the back straight, he still had work to do to catch the leaders inside the final two furlongs but stayed on really well. Had the pace been quicker in the early stages he might well have won, and he looks one to keep in mind when the emphasis is on stamina.
Classic Fantasy, on the other hand, proved disappointing, as she was well placed turning into the straight but simply failed to get home. Perhaps she needs better ground.
