That allowed Spear Thistle to get much closer than ever looked likely. He was making no impression under pressure on the long run into the last where he made a mistake. This was still an improvement on his debut effort and he should soon be winning on this display.
Original Fly added another placing and never threatened to get into a winning position despite tracking the pace throughout.
Top Man Tee was reported to have a breathing problem.
Akram was settled towards the back. He made some ground to get on the back of the front rank going into the last half-mile but soon got bogged down and was eased into the last and is another who has plenty to prove over hurdles for a decent Flat performer.
