FABULOUS JET, sharper for his reappearance last month, set a strong gallop but could never shake off Bureaucrat, who had taken his measure and looked in command when falling at the last. The winner, who made a notable error at the fourth, was fortunate to collect but second place would still have been a creditable effort. He may prove vulnerable under a penalty unless he settles better.
Bureaucrat was rather free too, but he readily kept tabs on the leader before easing past him three from home. Awkward over the next, he had the race in safe keeping when coming down at the final flight. A useful performer at around ten furlongs for John Gosden, he should have no problem winning races in this sphere and better ground would be a plus.
The Composer, who was useful but regressive on the Flat, made a pleasing hurdling debut although his jumping has room for improvement. He stayed 11/2m on the Flat and a step up in trip could suit him at this game.
Few of the others got involved, German Flat winner Helmac doing best of those to race in the pack. After Lent kept on from the rear of the field on his hurdles debut and first start for Pipe. He may do better, but he was a very limited performer on the Flat for Paul Blockley.
