GUNTHER MCBRIDE had not looked so good so far this term but the handicapper gave him a chance here with a few pounds drop and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he made much of the running before seeing off Philson Run. He has been a standing dish in the Racing Post Chase in previous seasons but connections were left wondering if he was that good anymore. However, with the front twocoming well clear the form of this race seems very solid and, even though the official assessor is bound to seek revenge for this win, it will be a bit of a surprise if he is not in the line up at Kempton at the end of the month.
World Wide Web has not won for ages but gets little respite from the handicapper. He could goto Uttoxeter as well even though he was beaten a fair way.
Victory Gunner was well there until stopping quite quickly while Fox In The Box is simply not the force of old.
