Jumping well, he was always travelling strongly off the pace, and coming through to lead four out, was clear by the next and won eased down. He was value for a good 20 lengths. Although he'll go up in the weights now, he could be an interesting contender for the Scottish National, though will only take his place if the ground were on the soft side.
Royal Emperor stepped up on his run in the Skybet Chase. He stayed on after getting outpaced down the far side but had no chance with the winner.
King Barry, stepping up in grade and trip, wasn't disgraced, though he left the impression he could be equally effective back at 2m4f.
Big-And-Bold, another National entrant, faded late on but ran a sound race back over fences and is likely to improve again for the run.
Strong Resolve has yet to recapture his good form of last season, Rosie Redman was never going well and was reported to be coughing after the race. Leading Man struggled from the outset.
