Much the stronger division of the novices' hurdle, featuring one previous winner and several others who had looked up to winning in this grade, but only a steady pace until approaching three out. CALL OSCAR got the perfect ride as he was always well placed, making much of the running and running on well in the closing stages. This NH Flat race winner has progressed with each run over hurdles and probably has further improvement in him.
Unjust Law ran well considering he had a 6lb penalty for his Fakenham win in run-of-the-mill company, but he was let down by his jumping, making notable mistakes at the last two flights - he had idled in front when successful and again left the impression he needs waiting with here.
Bumper was ridden prominently on this drop in trip, leading from the second to the fourth, but could not quicken when the tempo increased and is another who would have benefited from a stiffer test.
Dual NH Flat race winner, Lindbergh Law jumped less than fluently on his hurdling debut and could never get competitive - he showed a fair amount of stamina in bumpers and he too would have been helped by a greater test.
Similarly Mohayer could not get into contention on his hurdles debut, but is worth another chance with a better pace.
