STAGECOACH DIAMOND, whose two previous wins were on good to firm ground, coped well with the easier conditions here. Having his first run since July, he raced close to the pace, and though ridden along five from home, he stayed on strongly to win going away. He's a staying sort who should do well when he goes over fences.
Character Building jumped particularly well on his hurdles debut, but after going cleartwo out having made much of the running, he was caught in the closing stages. He was clear of the remainder, and though he's well capable of winning a race or two, he left the impression that he may not be entirely straightforward.
Serbelloni didn't appear to improve on his debut run at Kelso, but faced a stiffer task with a penalty, and had the rest were wellstrung out.
Golden Crest was running a sound race on his debut but seemed to slip on landing over the third-last when in with every chance and came down.
Useful Flat performer Balyan lost his chance with a mistake at the third-last, but he looked to be struggling at the time.
