This was a strong renewal by these standards and DUNBRODY MILLAR impressed in setting a strong pace and being equal to the task, which should not be underestimated around this course despite the faster conditions. His biggest worry came when the riderless Iris Royal nearly carried him out going to the Pond Fence for the first time. The way he galloped up the run-in suggests marathon tests will hold no fear. He has proved a revelation for new connections since coming over from Ireland and gets a Grand National quote of 50-1 from Hills. He looks highly unlikely to be rated anywhere near high enough to have a chance of getting into that race. Connections are adept at mapping out winning chances and this eight-year-old looks on an upward curve.
Ladalko momentarily looked to have him in his sights around the home bend but he was held from the last. He is possibly better with some cut in the ground but the handicapper could also be getting his measure having raised him another 2lb for his fall when leading here last time.
Limerick Boy hugged the inside line and was far from disgraced under his big weight. It was encouraging to see him finish stoutly stepped up to this trip again and he looks well on his way back.
Shalako and The Kew Tour keep paying with the handicapper for consistency but look high in the ratings on these showings.
Iris Bleu, winner of this race three years ago off a 8lb higher mark, ran better than las time but was still well short of his Badger Beer effort.
Run For Paddy travelled sweetly at the back off the strong pace but, when asked to close towards the end of the back straight, found little under pressure when conditions looked to be in his favour. (BJ)
