Glen Thyne was still nearly last at the bottom of the hill and only started to pick his way through weakening arrivals on the home bend, but he had the race won into the last and was full value for a convincing first win, which does not say much for the level of the form.
Razzamatazz did well enough under his big weight and kept battling away, unlike others up the straight, benefiting from sitting well off the fast pace which saw those front-runners not surprisingly curl up into the straight.
Yassar may be a veteran but he covered the pace despite making a couple of mistakes which took their toll late.
Both Munadil and Twist N Turn travelled well through the race sitting off the pace, but after starting to make moves uphill out of the back straight they couldn't make any further ground.
Shah was reported to have bled from the nose.
