Another weak contest resulting in a first career success for lightly raced "headbanger" JOSEPH BEUYS, who had shown promise over hurdles and in his recent chasing debut on unsuitably soft ground. He was again held up at the back, taken wide for a good sight of his fences before moving up stylishly under a cool ride. He lunged over a couple of his fences and dived right when looking tired at the last but he kept finding enough to hold on all out. He still looks a sort to keep on the right side from his lowly mark through the spring.

Cool Song was badly hampered when chopped off against the inside rail turning down the side of the course on to the last circuit. He did well to recover to start a dangerous move into the home bend but he could onlykeep on at the one pace. He is another who enjoys good ground and has a mark that still looks lenient when getting optimum conditions.

Rosetown made a bad mistake mid-race but was still in the thick of things until outpaced in the straight. He has not reached the same heights over fences as over hurdles and the 9lb rise for his recent win anchored him.

Royale Acadou showed plenty of zest in front until her stamina gave out around the home bend. She remains interesting if given a less severe test of stamina.
