THE OUTLIER could do no more than sluice up in this maiden chase but he was entitled to on official ratings against a particularly poor bunch. He jumped well apart from misjudging the third last when tanking along into the lead. He was value for considerably more than the bare margin, coasting from the last without being shown the whip but has almost certainly not had to run to his good second last time in a handicap chase.

Winning pointer Sett Aside kept battling away without seeing which way the winner went and outstayed Twenty Degrees in their private battle for second. He had run well on softer ground at the last meeting and looks to need a bog to slow down his rivals.

Bally Rainey was in fourth but slowed to a walk and was pulled up between the last two.
