Certainly the extra yardage seemed to hold no perils for the winner who gets on especially well for his talented amateur rider. Whether he can progress from this remains to be seen.
Brave Spirit is a prolific winner of staying chases who took a while to get his act together. He was the last of a group of five which pulled clear turning in, and for a few strides looked like getting up, but the winner pulled out extra when it mattered. His connections will have seen sufficient encouragement here to make it worth going for another hurdle at some stage.
