Just an average novice event but a game effort from MUNTAMI, who used his stamina to good effect to step up on his debut effort at Leicester two months ago. He still had ground to make up with two to jump but stayed on in determined fashion to challenge at the last and kept on well. He should improve further with experience and, although he is in the Supreme Novices'''''''', his connections consider him more of a Punchestown sort.

Easy Laughter, who had shown fair form on the Polytrack in November, was always nicely placed on this hurdling debut and came through to lead two out. He just seemed to run out of stamina after the last but should improve for the experience and could do better once he gets some faster ground.

Zonic Boom had been disappointing on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton a week earlier but ran much better on his return to hurdling and was close up until fading after two out. He is another who could be found a little race when the ground dries out.

Cordial, a worthy favourite after a sound effort in a hotter contest at Leicester 17 days earlier, was close up and just about to lead when taking a fatal fall four out.
