ALERON, who lost his chance with a last-fence mistake at Newcastle on his previous start, was left in front at that point, and making the rest of the running, kept on in good style. A decent novice over hurdles last season, he proved here that he stays 2m3f but with his hurdles mark of 130 he isn't going to be that easy to place now.
Sandy Gold ran his best race to date under Rules, though small handicaps are likely to prove his best option. Rifleman was hampered at the seventh and Moonlit Harbour was a clear third, but looking held when he fell three out.
