A meeting which went ahead only after three inspections owing to frost produced very deep and testing ground. There was little strength in depth to this mares' race, which fell to the odds-on SABREFLIGHT, who did her job in workmanlike style. Although threatened by the runner-up from the top of the hill, she took that rival's measure at the final flight and ran on nicely to the line. She stays well and, although there was no great merit in this victory, she is going the right way.

The first two came clear of the rest headed by Our Joycey, who was soon found wanting when push came to shove. The remainder finished so far behind they almost had a different postcode.
