BRUMOUS was the only previous hurdles winner in the field and proved good enough to give weight all round. He travelled well throughout and found extra when his rider got serious after the last. He will appreciate better ground and may take his chance in the Brit Insurance Novices' Hurdle at the Festival.
Major Catch had some fair form for Nick Gifford, but had struggled for his current stable prior to this. The drop back in trip seemed to help and, if he can repeat this performance, may have a small race in him.
Palm Island has shown in the past he handles testing ground and looked to run his race without being able to find an extra gear in the straight.
Bosworth Gypsy ran much better ridden from the front, and although she dropped away from the first in the straight, was not disgraced.
Pertemps Timmy, the stable companion of the favourite, looked fit enough on this return from over three and a half years off the track and only got tired on the climb to the second last.
Butler's Cabin was disappointing as he never landed a blow, but may not have handled the heavy ground, while Cayman Calypso travelled well turning in but appeared not to stay; somewhat surprising for a two-mile Fibresand winner.
