A tactical affair and a pace which did not begin to warm up from halfway. MIKASA was produced to lead at the final fence and ran on well to the line to gain a long overdue success at the main expense of Bob's Buster, who had beaten him a long way last time when Mikasa was far from fluent.

Bob's Buster, held up a long way off the modest pace in the early stages, had every chance in the straight and had still not been asked a serious question between the final two fences. But, he hit the last and, when push came to shove, he could find only one pace.
