A poor event yet it provided a cracking finish as AMANPURI got the better of Albert House in a protracted battle up the straight. The diminutive, yet stocky and gutsy winner, claimed out of a Chepstow seller a couple of months ago, stuck to his task well to break his maiden over hurdles. He clearly likes this ground - he won a Flat race on heavy in Germany earlier in his career - and connections are not averse to putting him over fences in the future. What he lacks in scope, he makes up for in heart and this success could provide the confidence he needs to progress.

Albert House led for much of the way and ran another solid race. The tables may have been turned had he had the benefit of running against the rail and he should soon be off the mark.

New Mischief, up there all the way and one of three in contention turning in, tired quickly in the home straight. Nero West went up the inside early on, where the ground was ploughed up and it is unlikely that would have aided his chance. He was beaten after four flights. This run is best forgiven.
