A competitive event, run at a reasonable pace on ground that was opening up all the while. There were some potentially decent chasing types in the field, none more so than SUNLEY SHINES, a strapping mare who took it up at the third-last and outstayed her nearest rivals in some style, despite hanging markedly left up the final straight. She treated the conditions, which she hated, with contempt and will come into her own when she goes over the bigger obstacles.

The 11-year-old grey, Hi Laurie, likes plenty of cut and she stays well. Under her penalty, she was just out-gunned after making smooth progress approaching the bottom turn. It was a meritorious effort, all things considered.

Honey's Gift was given a patient ride and made steady progress, but never looked likely to challenge the principals, while Hilarious was with the leaders until falling in a heap approaching three out. Sword Lady does not look an easy ride for an amateur and dropped out off the home turn.
