Analyis of the race

Just the seven runners and not a very strong bumper, but they went a reasonable enough pace - certainly better than is often the case in these type of races - and GOLDEN PARACHUTE ran out a ready winner on his racecourse debut. A 12,000gns half-brother to moderate maiden hurdler Cintra Ruby, he galloped on strongly when sent to the front by the in-form Noel Fehily and had this won a long way out.

He looks the sort who could well defy a penalty in this type of race, even though he could be faced with tougher opposition, and should have a future over obstacles in the longer term.

Aubigny was not without promise on his debut when sixth of 17 over a mile-six at Warwick and looked to step up on that effort in second. He was no match for the winner, but kept on well enough for pressure and is clearly going the right way.

Karrie, a stablemate of the winner, finished up well held in fourth but can be expected to show improvement in time.

The ex-Irish The Rocking Dock seemed to be going the right way when fourth at Ludlow on his previous start but, making his debut for new connections, he was well beaten after showing up well early on.

Bright Spirit, as on all three of his previous career starts when a beaten favourite, ran disappointingly. It almost goes without saying that he is one to avoid. [RW]
