They went at a decent pace in this event and UNJUST LAW, winner of two of his three bumpers, was able to make a winning debut over hurdles. He had travelled well throughout but was short of room when his rider brought him to try and make his challenge on the inside; a gap on the rails opened up like the Red Sea approaching two out. He quickly asserted but the run to the line proved much more of a mountain to climb as he began to tire and only just held the renewed challenge of the runner-up.

Finely Tuned was never far away and pulled well clear of the fourth and he too should have a little race in him.
