Testing ground for this novices' chase, in which two fences - along the back straight - were omitted because of the ground. SILVER SEDGE, who goes well under these conditions, had come to grief at the first on his chasing bow, but he made no mistake here and ran out a ready winner after taking command from the second-last. Two and a half miles would hold no fears for him.

Dance Party, who is rated 11lb higher than the winner over hurdles, had every chance but was unable to reel in the winner on her chasing debut.
