The ratings suggested that the finish of this race would involve BISCAR TWO and Westmeath Flyer and so it proved with the younger of the pair eventually gaining the upper hand. That said, for a long way, the winner looked more likely to finish amongst the also-rans as his rider vigorously coaxed him along to keep his mind on the job throughout the final circuit and it wasn't until after the last that he finally asserted. He clearly has ability but his style of racing isn't going to attract the feint-hearted.

Westmeath Flyer found this grade to his liking but didn't appear too keen in the finish. However, he hasn't been the easiest to keep sound and that could be the reason for his failure. He was soon tracking the leader Desertmore Chief and did take it up at the second-last but could find no answer to the final surge of the winner. He looks capable of winning in this company if all remains well with him.
