CRITIC was the clear form pick on the form he had showed on turf last year, and he won very much as he pleased. His rider Jamie Spencer reported that seven furlongs looks the horse’s ideal trip, and that he will appreciate good ground when he reverts to the turf.
Blue Beacon, a well-bred filly who was sold out of Ed Dunlop’s yard for 26,000gns after just one run, stepped up on her fifth here last month with a fair second and she should pay her way in modest handicap company this season.
Didn’t We, runner-up on his debut at Newmarket but disappointing over the same trip at Lingfield next time, again failed to shine on this step up in trip, not finding a great deal for pressure in the straight.
*Fergal Lynch reported that Rudry World had run green and hung left.
