Grenane, who had pulled too hard in a small field at Lingfield last month, had come from well off the pace to win a nursery here on his previous start and he again showed what a strong finisher he is as he picked up impressively in the closing stages here, and he looks the type to go on improving for a while yet.
Canina rarely runs a bad race but invariably finds at least one too good, and her second here was an eighth placing from 13 starts for the maiden filly.
Trombone Tom, fourth to Grenane here last month and reopposing on 7lb better terms, was given early chance under a positive ride but edged left under pressure in the closing stages.
Correct Time, who had shown very moderate form in three five-furlong runs in the first half of last season, raced keenly on this return to action before fading in the final furlong. He should be all the better for the outing, but it remains to be seen whether five furlongs is going to be his better trip.
