RUMAN, a hold-up horse, was another who would possibly have appreciated a stronger early pace and the fact that he was able to pick up so well in the straight shows that he is in very good order at present. He had run second to the bang-in-form Owed at Southwell last week, and there is likely to be more to come from him. His trainer Michael Attwater believes the horse is better suited to Polytrack than Southwell’s fibresand.Diamond Josh was allowed an uncontested lead, but the gelding, having his first run since winning a weak claimer for Peter Chapple-Hyam here in October, could find nothing extra to repel Ruman’s late charge. He is entitled to come on for this outing and should soon be winning again.
Mambazo, second to Bollin Billyat Lingfield last week and weighted to reverse placings with the Brotherton runner, was a bit too keen for his own good and did not find a great deal off the bridle.
