The forecast overnight frost failed to materialise and the riders reported that the ground was sticky and tiring. This first division of the mares' novice hurdle was not a great heat and few could be seriously fancied on what they had shown. However, SUNLEY SHINES had shown enough in two runs this season to merit respect and she duly scored. Connections believe she needs much better ground than she encountered here, but her ability saw her through and she will do better over fences.

Tessanoora was slightly disappointing but might have been a bit closer except for clouting the last.
