BALLYJOHNBOY LORD may not be the biggest horse in the world, but he lacks nothing in guts as he showed here when getting the better of a prolonged duel with Livingonaknifedge. Previously trained in Ireland, he looks the type to continue progressing, especially if he can step up to three miles. He will be sent chasing next season.

Livingonaknifedge ran a creditable race in second, especially as he finished well clear of the rest, headed by Best Accolade, who ran well for a long way on his first run for a year. This former point-to-pointer will come into his own when he goes chasing in due course.
