DINGAAN shed his maiden tag in style. He was making his first appearance since finishing five lengths behind Coventry Stakes winner Red Clubs, a run which earned him an official rating of 84. He proved at home on this surface and just about made all, travelling powerfully throughout and quickening away from his rivals as they turned for home. Always in command thereafter he was probably value for a bit more than the official winning margin.
Fellow Polytrack debutant Trans Sonic was pretty exposed on turf and he had work to do on the figures, but he returned from a break to produce one of his better efforts and although he's always going to be vulnerable to something with a little more potential, he should be able to find a race.
Attitude Annie, who led home the main group, was five lengths adrift of the front three and looks modest. She now qualifies for handicaps and those events may see her get more competitive.
Radius, who is officially rated 82, didn't run his race, having to be ridden along from halfway and never finding anything.
*Chris Catlin, the riderof Radius, reported that the gelding ran flat.
*Jimmy Quinn, the rider of Simpsons Ross, reported that the gelding hungleft.
