Whereas he had been slowly away at Lingfield, he broke well on thisoccasion and was always travelling like a winner as he confirmed last month's placings with Cornus, Katiypour, Chateau Nicol and Russian Symphony. There is surely more to come from him, and his trainer Tim Pitt reckons there are good races to be won with the horse on turf this coming summer.
Kostar, sometimes troublesome at stalls entry, was again a bit awkward and that may have contributed to him just missing the kick. That meant he always had work to do to get competitive and, though he did run on well in the straight, the winner had flown and was never in danger of being caught.Trinculo cut out a decent pace, but basically just set up the race for Les Arcs and was swept aside late on, as was Cornus, whose effort petered out in the final furlong and has yet to make his mark on the sand.
