Danelor was best in on official figures, but this 1m4f stretches his stamina to its limits and Desperation proved just the stronger on the run to the line.
Mad Carew, second off a mark of 75 in a Southwell handicap last time, looked to have every chance on that showing but hung badly when asked for his effort early in the straight and had to be switched to the outside to deliver a challenge which was all too late to be dangerous.
Tony Culhane reported that Reminiscent would not jump out of the stalls.
