This was run at a crawl, and several runners were very keen, among them Royal Shakespeare's brother SAFARI ADVENTURES, who in the circumstances did well to cruise to the front straightening for home and win with plenty in hand after being kept wide on the best ground. Although the value of the form might be questionable, he is clearly a promising sort, and he ought to be seen to advantage in a more truly run race.

Ice Tea was in front soon after halfway when winning over course and distance on his debut, but this time he was struggling at the back of the pack down the far side and didn't get involved until making good headway under pressure turning for home. He then spoilt his effort by hanging, but the winner was much too good for him in anycase.

Romney Marsh appeared to show a lot more than she had on her debut, but it's possible the way the race was run might have flattered her.

Cool Society refused to settle but could be a different proposition in a truly run race.
